Henna Hair Color
Natural henna is a traditional method of dying the hair. Henna, or lawsonia inermis, imparts a natural red dye which is useful for covering gray hair, or adding a coppery sheen to your hair. Henna beard dye is simply henna, applied to the beard. Because there are no chemicals or additives it is a safe and natural way to dye almost any hair.
How do you choose which product to buy? It can be tricky and online forums sometimes confuse things. If you are unsure, please email me with your natural hair color, the color your hair is now, and what color you want it to be. If you want to be....
RedHead - A bright red is possible on people with naturally lighter hair, such as blonde, light brown, or light brown with gray. You can use BAQ henna to get there. Remember that henna only adds color, so if you have dark brown hair or black hair, henna will cover your grays, and you'll see coppery shimmer in the sun, but you can't really go lighter or be a ginge. ;)
Brunette - For most people, a combination of henna and indigo will create a nice natural brunette. Add extra indigo for cooler/darker tones, or extra henna for more red shimmer. If you have a lot of gray, you may wish to do a straight henna application, followed by a "henndigo" application.
Black - To maintain naturally black hair, you can just use indigo which eliminates any of the brassiness that can occur from sun-damage or chlorine-damage. If you are brunette and want to go black, first apply henna, rinse, and immediately follow with indigo. If you have grays you will also have to use the two-step process for good coverage. This is the only truly natural way to achieve black hair without chemicals. Your hair will thank you for it though, shiny, thick, and a healthy scalp!
Tip - For monthly maintenance apply your mixture of choice to just your roots. When it's time to rinse out, lather with some gentle shampoo and let the lather sit all over your hair for 5 minutes for a "gloss".
