he fruit of Genipa Americana, also known as Jagua, has been used for thousands of years by indigenous tribes from Panama to Brazil. The juice of the unripe fruit colors the skin a beautiful indigo blue color, which lasts for 7-14 days (about the same as henna, because it works in a similar way staining the dead skin cells, which then exfoliate naturally). We are so thrilled to offer an alternative to dangerous chemicals like PPD. Jagua gel enables you to achieve a tattoo-like color, completely naturally, painlessly, and of course temporarily.

Purchase of this product also encourages the preservation of rainforest, as this tree is valuable alive, than being sold off for clearcutting for soybean or beef production or hardwood collection.

Jagua gel is applied to clean dry skin, and allowed to sit for 2-3 hours, after which it can be peeled off or washed off. At first, the stain is almost invisible, and then with the exposure to oxygen, the dye molecule (Genipine) oxidizes and darkens to a beautiful blueish tone over the next 24 hours. Smudges and smears can be cleaned up with rubbing alcohol to avoid staining.
